I thought of writing an article that would not only praise everything but actually show reality, which could sometimes be pretty disappointing. The Swiss Blausee is supposed to be one of the most beautiful lakes in Switzerland and maybe a lot of people will tell you that it is. However, as I’ve come across a lot of lakes, Blausee didn’t impress me at all.
The first warning signal was the fact that the lake was just off the main road, not far from the cable car to Oeschinensee.
The second warning was the fact there was a huge paid parking lot with a couple of busses.
The third warning sign was the huge gate with the sign “Blausee”, a cashier, turnstiles, shop and a restaurant.
In spite of all these signals, we went to buy the ticket and stared exploring the site. And why was Blausee such a disappointment? The lake itself was pretty magical (although I’d rather call it a pond), but the loud masses of people (including families with baby carriages) were a bit less magical. The absolute nonsense was a boat floating on the pond. Or rather, it was more like spinning around, because the lake is really tiny.
