I’ve never seen more turquoise water than at Lake Tekapo & Lake Pukaki

Hi!

You could see how great time we had around Mt Cook in the last post, and this post is kind of a follow-up. The rest two days, we spent around the two lakes, but not hiking, just relaxing.

So the second day was probably the best day so far (I know I say this about every day lol), because it was our first cheat-day! When we hike, there is no time for fancy food, so we eat just some protein powder & energy bars. I actually haven’t talked about their food yet! Well it’s absolutely amazing! The variety of different food is huge, but what I’m really crazy about here, is fresh tropical fruit and local bakeries.

Anyways, early in the morning, we bought food for the whole day, but before eating it, we sat down in one of the cafés and tasted their typical hot meat pie, made of phyllo pastry, and muffins with fresh fruit.

After breakfast, we took all that food we bought in the supermarket, and made a picnic at Lake Pukaki, where we were also catching some rays. Well, can you imagine just laying on a beach with turquoise water & eating all your favorite foods?:))) I have to admit, that I couldn’t resist the warm rolls & Nutella.

In the late afternoon, in order not to feel so quilty, we ran up the Mt John, from where we could admire the whole Lake Tekapo.

And the last, third day, we got on the road again and headed towards Christchurch, from where we will fly to Cairns, Australia. Three weeks oin Zealand are over, now we’ve got three more weeks in Australia! Can’t wait!

E.
